I just received my iPad from UPS today and while I haven’t had a ton of time to mess with it I want to share a few initial impressions with everyone.
Taming IMAP on Gmail

When Google added IMAP support they turned every label into a folder, including the spam label. This makes total sense, but I get far more spam than real emails and when I use IMAP I have to download all of those spam messages. Or do I? I just stumble upon a Gmail Labs extension called "Advance IMAP settings" which gives you the ability to control which labels are downloaded via the IMAP protocol. Install the extension and go to Settings > Labels. Each label/folder has a checkbox next to it called "Show in IMAP". Uncheck the one called spam and you're done. No more waiting for your spam to download.

Damn you Apple. I've been waiting for you to refresh your Cinema display lineup forever and now that you do, you've made it use a DisplayPort connector. And as far as I can tell there are no DVI to DisplayPort adapters, let alone mini DisplayPort adapters. Why do you hate me Apple?
The Rise of Netbooks

Ever since ASUS introduced the Eee PC late last year, every computer company in the world has been scrambling to introduce their own. Well except for Apple and Sony, but Sony is rumored to be working on one. They're neat little machines, but I can't see how people get any serious work done on those things. Especially when it comes to word processors, those things get bigger and slower with each release. But if Apple wants to enter this market I suggest they leveage their iPhone technology and make a tablet with an attachable keyboard, similar to Compaq's old 10" tablet.
